Connecting community and care at Mt Louisa

A simple pathway is transforming daily life for BlueCare’s Mount Louisa residents.

The new 20-metre link between Mount Louisa and the church next door is making it easier for residents to attend services and join community activities.

Previously, the only route was a 200 to 250-metre walk in the North Queensland heat, much too far for many. After listening to residents’ requests, the team found a way to create a safe and direct connection.

This improvement was possible thanks to the generosity of supporters like you who help make life easier and more meaningful for people in our care.

Your support enabled the work needed to pour the concrete, level the surrounding surface and install handrails, creating a safe and accessible path for everyone.

Now about six to eight residents are able to regularly attend Sunday services and the church has become a hub for social activities like ukulele club.

Residents say the path allows them to meet their spiritual needs in a safe and supportive way and participation in community activities is growing — something the team expects to continue well into 2026.
