Honouring stories, transforming care

Thanks to the support of our community, the bespoke Culturally Informed Trauma Awareness program has been delivered to teams working within Pinangba’s Rural, Regional and Remote Services.

Pinangba is a proud part of BlueCare and the UnitingCare family, dedicated to providing culturally safe and community-led services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Grounded in respect, connection, and the wisdom of culture, Pinangba supports individuals and communities through aged care, disability services, and healing programs.

At the heart of Pinangba is a commitment to walking alongside people, honouring their stories, and creating spaces where healing and empowerment can thrive. Through Culturally Informed Trauma Awarness training, teams are being equipped with practical tools, cultural knowledge, and trauma-awareness skills to ensure the care they provide is safe, respectful, and empowering.

Designed in close collaboration with community voices, this training program honours the histories, strengths and lived experiences of First Nations peoples in care settings.

Thanks to community support, more than 78 team members across Townsville, Cairns, and Thursday Island have benefited from this transformative training. The impact is already clear: improved workplace culture, stronger communication, and more culturally safe, trauma-informed care.

One participant shared:

“It brought our team closer. We started having conversations we’d never had before – about our own stories, our families and the things that shape us.”

The ongoing support of people like you helps build a sustainable foundation that honours the strength, resilience and healing potential of First Nations communities that will make a lasting difference for generations to come.

A beautiful, vibrant and personal artwork representing Pinangba teams, sites and services across Queensland.

Artist Beau Pennefather Motlop’s artwork fully embraces cultural identity, a pillar of our Pinangba services, and our Pinangba team could not be prouder to integrate this art into their visual identity.
