Keeping loved ones connected

At Blue Care, making sure that families stay connected is a very important part of everyday living.

Regular and positive communication with a friend or family member is vital for everyone’s health and wellbeing. So when the pandemic lead to fewer physical visits, less social activities and higher amounts of lonely people, a tool called ‘CareApp’ was introduced across Blue Care. This has been especially helpful for families living far from one another.

Since the official rollout in May 2020, CareApp has allowed numerous Blue Care residents across Queensland and their loved ones to connect via video, photo sharing and messaging.

Thank you so much to all those who have been able to give so generously to Blue Care recently. Contributions will connect more of the people in our care with the people they love, helping to keep them in high spirits, particularly during times of isolation and restrictions.

“I am so grateful that we have CareApp as this enables people living with us to video call with their families and friends. Our staff can also help people in our care send photos and regular updates to their families. I can only imagine the joy for those families to see that the person they love and care about is living a good life.” – Nerida Pankhurst, Dementia Specialist Support Officer.

Some families of the wonderful people that we care for have even taken the time to reach out to our staff and volunteers and express how much CareApp has relieved their worries about their loved ones and allowed them to communicate quickly.

“Thank you for setting this up. I live in Brisbane while my sisters and brother and their families live in Townsville, so I am thrilled that I will be able to check-in via this App.”

“You have no idea how happy it makes me to see the care and love Dad is receiving – thank you.”

Thanks to the compassionate support of people like you, Blue Care can continue to keep families together throughout the pandemic, during national disasters and simply when loved ones are unable to be with each other in the same space. Your kindness helps prevent loneliness and keeps the people in our care feeling loved and connected.
