Help families facing dementia
Help us be there for people living with dementia, and the loved ones who care for them
Over 400,000 Australians are living with dementia, many of them cared for by loved ones at home. But too many carers in our community just aren’t getting the support they need to look after a loved one with dementia. That's why there’s an urgent need for more in-home dementia care services, and more specially trained dementia carers.
Your gift will help provide the expert, compassionate and dignified care to more Queensland families in urgent need. Because families shouldn't have to face dementia alone.

You can help families like Nicole's make the best of life with dementia
Nicole lost her dad to dementia. Now her mum has it too. That’s been really hard, but Nicole is thankful to people like you, who’ve helped her access expert, compassionate dementia support.
That support helped Nicole care for her mum at home for 12 months, which meant her 18-month-old son got to spend a precious extra year living with his beloved ‘Nan-Nan’.
Nicole says. “It’s really good just to talk to people who understand the disease and can give you tips and tricks on ways to support the person you love.”
And while Nicole can no longer care for Jennifer safely at home, she has full-time care from people especially trained to look after people with dementia at a BlueCare residence.
It helps to see her mum is being well cared for. “They do regular walks, tai chi, church craft days and everything like that. I think that's all really important in keeping her mind active,” Nicole says.
Your kindness today can help provide the best possible dementia care at every stage.
You can give people like Jennifer and Nicole access to the very best support from BlueCare at home and in our residences.

Nicole worries for her mum, and Jennifer worries about her too.
Nicole said, “Mum is terrified. She's sorry for me that I've got to go on this journey again. She just wishes she doesn't have it. She wants to be around. She wants to see my son grow up.”
Having a kind, patient and empathetic BlueCare Dementia Care Specialist can bring relief and help families stay together at home for longer.
Nicole shared with us, “It’s really good just to talk to people who understand the disease, and can give you tips and tricks on ways to best support the person you love. Nerida was such a wonderful sounding board.”
Having the support to keep Jennifer home for 12 months gave Ethan the chance to make precious memories with 'Nan-Nan'.
“It just brings her so much joy to see him. She absolutely loves him like there’s no tomorrow. I know he’s one of the reasons Mum is fighting the hardest, so that she can be here for him as long as she possibly can.”, Nicole says.
It helps Nicole to see Jennifer happy and safe in a nurturing and stimulating environment with BlueCare.
“They do all kinds of things. They do regular walks, tai chi, they have church craft days and everything like that. I think that's all really important in keeping her mind active.”, Nicole said.
