Blue Care Sunday

20 August 2023

Blue Care began with someone who cared, Sister Olive Crombie. The funds you raise this Blue Care Sunday will carry that care into the future.

Blue Care Sunday is a special day for us to reflect on the very important role of aged care in our community. Please join us on 20 August for Blue Care Sunday to celebrate the staff, volunteers, carers and community continuing the life-changing legacy of Sister Oliver Crombie. And remember and celebrate the lives of the loved ones who have shared their time with us at Blue Care.

Our story began with one person’s genuine desire to serve Queenslanders and improve the lives of those in need of care. On 24 August 1953, Sister Olive Crombie boarded a tram to visit a patient in their own home. This was the start of the Blue Nurse Service.

Every dollar raised will carry care for older Australians, and those who are vulnerable and alone, into the future.

Thank you for being a part of Blue Care Sunday.

How you can support Blue Care

With your support, Blue Care can continue to go above and beyond to ensure more services are provided to those in our Community.

For example; our Dementia Response Program will give staff at Blue Care the training they need to provide tailored, holistic care. This is a world first in dementia care. The comprehensive training you’ll help provide is based on the Montessori method – a revolutionary approach that’s been proven to transform the lives of people with dementia.

Blue Care Sunday is a great opportunity for you to support Blue Care and help us continue this work by fundraising, donating or choosing to leave a gift in your Will.

Does our worship service or event need to be on Sun 20th August?

No, it does not! If it works better for your local celebration to be another Sunday or another day, there is no problem. The date is picked as it is close to the first official visit by Sister Olive Crombie. The focus is still to celebrate the work of Blue Care, which can be done at any time.
